MCI WorldCom International Headquarters – Clinton, MS
87,300 SQFT of Manville Bitumen Roofing, 69,000 SQFT of standing seam roofing, standing seam panels up to 59 FT long, unusual design with steep slopes and tremendous heights
Overview
The MCI WorldCom Corporate Headquarters was designed to be more than just an office building; it was designed to be a show place for Clinton and the state of Mississippi. With over 150,000 SQFT of Manville Modified Bitumen and standing seam roofing, at grand heights and steep slopes, this unusual design was both a show piece and a challenge, but it was a challenge that was completed on time and without injury.
Roofing
The headquarters building has 87,300 SQFT of Manville Modified Bitumen Roofing over tapered insulation, and 69,000 SQFT of Centria 22-gauge Kynar coated metal standing seam roof and screen walls. In addition, 8,000 SQFT of Hanover Pavers was installed on the pedestal at the main entrance of the building.
Waterproofing
All waterproofing work was completed as part of the roofing project.
Special Considerations
Extreme heights and steep slopes added to the difficulty of the project. Special provisions were also made to transport and install seam panels that measured up to 59 feet long.
