With a strict timeline and limited operational downtime before the new academic year began, Independent Roofing was brought in to execute a coordinated, multi-site roofing upgrade using Modified Bitumen systems. The entire scope was completed ahead of schedule, delivering long-term performance and leak protection backed by a 20-Year Warranty.

Challenge / Objective

The primary challenge was completing full roof replacements at three separate school buildings within the short summer window, while ensuring zero disruption to school operations. Each school had to be finished before faculty and students returned, which required a strategic work schedule and tight coordination between trades.

Solution

To meet the client’s timeline, our team implemented nighttime work schedules, capitalizing on the vacant buildings to accelerate installation safely and without interruption. The system included:

• Polyiso base layer + ¼” tapered Polyiso insulation for effective water drainage and improved thermal performance 
• ½” coverboard to support the integrity of the roofing system 
• A robust 2-ply Modified Bitumen system (base + cap sheet) for long-term waterproofing 
• Shop-fabricated metal flashings for clean detailing and durability 

Coordination between roofing crews and metal trades ensured seamless installation across all buildings under the accelerated schedule.

Results

The new roofing systems were completed across all campuses on time, before the return of staff and students. The result was a dry, insulated, and long-lasting solution across the Scott County School District, enhancing protection and energy performance for years to come.
